Hipotels Playa de Palma Palace

Hotel is relatively new and beautifully designed, reception staff are attentive and efficient, and the room/suite was big with a stunning view of the sea. We requested a kettle which was in the room with a coffee machine. It was October, but the pool was quiet, if cold, and we had the choice of sun-beds. We had half board, and the food was amazing, breakfast was as good as you would expect for a 5* hotel, but in the evening the choice was amazing, as was the presentation. There is a fish cook and a meat cook as well as several hot choices, many vegetables and also an Asian themed counter. Best to get there early as they get busy even in October. Journey from airport is very quick so perfect for a long weekend break. Spa/fitness centre very easy to find although my wife got confused with the online booking and he=ad her treatment at the sister hotel next door. All in all, if you could pick up the hotel and place it in a nicer area, heat the outdoor pool a bit, it would be near perfect.

As I said before, the area is the only downfall. While the sea view from our room was amazing, you also look onto the tatty buildings between the hotel and the beach, including MegaPark. This isn't a 'pretty' part of the island. The beachfront is strewn with little bars and restaurants, hire shops and tacky gift shops. You also need to be aware this is a very German area, most people were speaking German and we were also spoken to initially in German all the time. There was a motorcycle event going on for a week at MegaPark which meant we had unbelievably noisy motorcycles revving and driving around the roads outside the hotel at all hours of the day and night. This is an annual event and unless you love bikes, it really spoils the tranquility. Getting into Palma was a doddle and less than €20 in a cab, highly recommended.
