friendly staff room smelt musty
it was in the loire valley close to the chateaus and had a family room that slept four at a good price. the landlady's english was better than my french and we made do.
The owners are extremely friendly and helpful.
Close to centre of Blois
This is a cheap and cheerful hotel suitable for heavy sleepers that do not mind paper thin walls. The showers are suitable for a female size zero - but plenty of hot water
Relatively well located, not far from the center of Blois. The hotel was okay, even though the surroundings were not particulairly romantic. Supertiny bathroom (a plastic cube put in the room), the bed was not very comfortable. The elderly Monsieur at the reception at night was not very sympa. All in all, considering other deals in Blois and other hotels we stayed in while travelling in France, I regretted having booked that one.
Lovely people, excellent breakfast. Central location. Would come again. Small room, very small bathroom-shower. Would be difficult to stay here for many days, due to small room and limited storage space, but for short stays it is an excellent value.
The location was great with easy access to the Metro & train stations & there were some wonderful pattisseries close by.
excellent position, close to station and chateau in Blois. Helpful staff, good breakfast.
Very friendly and helpful owners and staff! Just down the street from the Chateau and parking nearby. Loved the ambiance of this historic building! Tea set in room. Lovely dining room. Does have small elevator. If you like modern and sleek and cookie-cutter, this hotel is not for you. It has modern conveniences in a typical, restored historic building.
The owners were absolutely wonderful. They helped us with recommendations for restaurants and travel arrangements. They were very accomodating in every way. We would love to go back. The slippery bathtub, which I fell in and pulled out of the wall.
The owners were great. Any questions or concerns you had, they were always there, happy to help. The breakfasts were awesome as well served in a beautiful room The wireless connection was very weak in our room on the 4th floor and so I had to go to the lobby to go on the internet.
Great location and very helpful staff. Good value for money. Rooms quite old and in need of renovation, breakfast simple and not really good value.
The location of the hotel is excellent. Overlooking both the Cathedral and the Chateau. Just few minutes walk to the centre of Blios. The owners - Annie & Jacky Barilleau are very nice and helpful. The breakfast @ Eur 7 pp was more for convinience. Better breakfast available right across from the hotel.
Cheap and ok hotel. Toilet bowl is not good.
Excellent location No parking, although there was a reduction on the (cheap) 24 hour rate at the main Chateau parking - which was very busy
Superb atmosphere created by renovated old building Room 2 - en suite was cramped and open to the bedroom.
Great location, helpful staff No tea or coffee making facilities in the room. Very thin walls, could hear any movement made in other rooms.
Everyone at the front desk was very helpful and friendly. They gave great advice about restaurants and parking, and helped with driving directions on the day we checked out. The hotel has a great location very close to the chateau and within easy walking distance of shopping and restaurants. Not a luxury hotel but very clean and comfortable. Great value for the price.
Location was very good, easy access to shops, tourist attractions and transport. Very good value for money. Staff were also very welcoming and friendly. Probably the only thing we found a problem was no internet access at the hostel.
Among almost every review of this hotel you can find "Friendly staff" - and this is 100% true. We were offered to stay in a better room that we booked for the same price as the room was free, and also received a lot of good advices about the places to visit, public transport, etc. Also the room was clean and comfortable, the hotel is located in an old-looking house in the town centre, so we had a very pleasant stay
Convenient and central. The room faced into an airshaft and so was quiet. The linens were crisply clean and the staff friendly and helpful. The place is falling apart. I was afraid we would fall through the bathroom floor - which was rotted out under the tiles, and most of the lightbulbs in the dining room were burned out. The hotel is justifiably inexpensive.
Very friendly helpful staff, central location, clean and well serviced, historic building.
The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. The hotel is just on the edge of the centre and the place is very quiet. Also, there are some convenient restaurants in the proximity of the hotel. As the hotel is in a very old building, our room was not really big.
Friendliness and helpfulness of the owner. Excellent internet access. Good value for the money. Good mattress. Small rooms
We enjoyed that it was not very expensive and that we had a room with our own bathroom. Two of our Mastercards were not accepted, the rooms were very dark even with all the lights on, and the closest parking spot was five or six blocks away
The room was pleasant and the hotel has a real quirky charm. It is well located but is undoubtedly a budget hotel, so don't expect any more than that. The owner put me in a cheaper room than advertised on Booking and then tried to charge the extra £20! Stay was two days and the room was not serviced during this time. When mentioned to the owner, his reply was "you just can't get the staff". Owner also refused to take credit/debit card as he said the machine wasn't working. Strangely it "wasn't working" when I stayed there in September '08 either! He would only take cash payment. With this, the unserviced accommodation and the attempt to charge £20 more than the room price advertised on the hotel door, I would not return.
Hotel Du Bellay is just next door to the train station, and not far from the visitors' office also. it is very convenient for both getting there and getting around in the town. it was noisy...i guess the the noise proof is not very good
we requested a room with bathroom but was not available, hotel staff proposed us another hotel without problem
family run, friendly, right across from the train station
For this price the hotelroom was very clean en nice decorated. The bathroom was good with a shower.
Location Limited reception and front door facilities
Friendly atmosphere; proximity to the train station; reasonable rates; access to the internet.
Convenient to the train station. It is a bare bones kind of place good for a night stay if you are arriving late. There are nicer places for a little more money. However, the staff/owners were very freindly.
The staff were lovely and the cleaning staff were very sweet, the hotel was clean and beautifully decorated and had a nice feel about it. close to railway to be convenient and the room even though it was a simple room was completely perfect. I had a fabulous meal from the bistro attached to the hotel too, Sebastian who worked there was wonderful and it was a truly great experience.
I love all the parts!
Service, nice staff, sweet frence hotel noise from train station
Comfortable bed. Railway station is to close.
--proximity to train station (practically right across the street), main reason we chose this hotel --breakfast had fresh bread and croissants --no lift --noise from train station (and traffic in morning) --witless washroom design: shower only had half door covering tub rim --bed too old and soft --breakfast too pricey for limited selection offered
What a pleasant surprise! A modern, spacious, clean appartement, decorated with taste and care, inside a -maybe- medieval building at the heart of old town! A bottle of wine was expecting us! We were sad that we had booked it just for one day! We' ll be back...
Expresso machine netbook with good Internet connection location
This is a wonderful place for a family or a group of friends. Great location, very comfortable and nicely equipped. Not suitable for walking impaired because of stairs.
Don't judge it from the outside. It's right down town, well priced, and one of the best self catering apartments we've stayed in. Stairs. But it is France.
