Good location meant walking distance to all of downtown Asheville as well of easy highway access. Staff was friendly, and the hotel had a hip, modern feel. Cost was high for lack of amenities. Modern design lacked some warmth as well as function. Created a louder atmosphere in a bad way, Doors closing on the floor we stayed could be heard at all hours. Really nothing to 'do' at the hotel so why was the price as high as others in the same area with full bars, restaurants and pools?
Great staff Nice location -- walkable to everywhere downtown Beautiful, spacious room Easy in and out A bit noisy, with highway/main street traffic
I loved the view in our "view" room. The hotel staff were very friendly and the room was so spacious, clean, and comfortable! Bed was amazing, floors were super clean, and the whole experience was amazing. My girlfriend was very happy, and so it made our getaway wonderful. The walking distance to downtown was also one of our favorite features of the hotel. It was definitely worth it. The only thing that held me back a little was the price. I paid $240 with taxes included, and didn't get as high of a floor as we wanted (4th), but it was very quiet and you couldn't really hear the traffic below so it was all good. I would definitely stay again. Knowing this room goes for $400+ on the weekends made me appreciate the value we were getting as well. It was definitely a wonderful experience.
Huge room, but almost too big (not cozy). Staff is super friendly. Location, Location, Location! Nice touch that you get water/champagne upon arrival and a goodie back of water and snack bars for ride home. Free internet. Free breakfast at attached cafe which is decent. Was nice not to feel nickel and dimed. Dated furniture (but it is very well maintained).
Location couldn't be better!! Staff is very welcoming, and the spacious accommodations allowed us to spread out and never feel cramped. Comfy bed. Plenty of drapes to block light and really sleep in if you wish. The adjacent bier garden is a bonus if you want to watch sports, and the bartenders are very friendly.
Room was great, very spacious and well appointed but a little dated. Staff was excellent. Perhaps it was the downtown location but the street noise, even in an upper level room was very noticeable.
The location can't be beat in downtown Asheville.... Walking distance to the festivals, restaurants, bars, etc 1-5blocks away. Rooms are nice, comfortable, modern decor. Lobby is sophisticated yet not stuffy. Barn door to the bathroom is stylish but doesn't provide much privacy or noise limitations when in the bathroom.
The staff was fantastic! Very accommodating of a late checkout when we got stuck at an event. Top notch!
Location, general comfort, capable staff. Noisy vending area right outside the door; unattached drain cover in the tub; tub faucet handle awkward to operate; main door handle also didn't operate smoothly. For $200+ I expected more attention to detail.
We liked Charles from room service. He was fast and mannerly. This hotel is geared towards businesses and a place for wedding parties. There are charges to make a local call, charges to connect you to a taxi service and a $50 charge is added to your credit card that remains there for 3-5 business days after you've cleared your account. I understand some hotels have this practice, but I was not told the hotel would charge my account in this manner. When I found the charge on my credit card, I had to call the hotel and hang on for many minutes until someone could explain to me what the charge was for. Also, the navigator wasn't too knowledgeable about the surrounding area. The in-hotel restaurant is mediocre but charges $12.00 for a buffet breakfast that is one level above the continental breakfast served at Hampton Inns. I'd skip breakfast at this hotel and go downtown to a great coffee house. We only used the restaurant because we were given 2 $20 vouchers (included in our package). The breakfast wound up costing us $24 + a tip for greek yogurt and fruit. I would not recommend this hotel as my first choice.
Decor too modern for my taste, very stiff visually and functionally in common areas
the bed. the pillows.
The location in downtown Asheville is great, within walking distance of many restaurants, breweries and shops. The lobby is modern and nice and the staff was very helpful. Free in-room Wi-Fi is nice, albeit a little slow You can tell this is an older hotel that has been remodeled. The bathroom was tiny and not very well lit. The bathroom door didn't latch and the TV reception was poor. We also had to request an extension cord because there were no outlets by the bed to plug a phone in overnight.
Hotel is old and needs updating. Overpriced. Bed was the worst we had ever slept in. TV didn't work. Room was noisy. We were on the 6th floor and could still hear anything that went on in the street. I would not recommend this hotel. Worst part was when I told the front desk about these problems they did not seem to care.
Location, staff, and rooms The noise level in our hotel room was unbelievable. We were informed that there was a family with 4 children under the age of 8 in the king room above us! I found it unbelievable especially since I had requested a quiet room for my birthday. This obviously did not happen and we found ourselves moving rooms at 11:00 pm! Great hotel but terrible noise insulation in rooms.
The Windsor is a beautiful hotel with everything you need on the inside with everything you would want to do within walking distance. I would highly recommend the Windsor for a getaway weekend for couples.
Loved the rustic atmosphere. Staff was super-friendly. Loved that we could open our windows (third floor) onto the street and listen to and watch the city. Very clean and comfortable.
Amazing Hotel. Staff wasn't what I expected for such a high-end hotel. No offer to help with bags or reservations around town. Friendly, just not what I expcted from a $500 p/night hotel.
Our room wasn't ready when we arrived at 9 pm. Housekeeping walked in our room without knocking at 8:30 AM while we were not dressed. Then housekeeping knocked on our door again at 9:45 AM and again at 11 AM, prior to our 12 PM checkout. I spoke to the front desk and she offered me a free cup of coffee. There was already free coffee in the room. I would have much preferred to actually have had privacy in our room and not bothered by the staff. the staff was rude unaccomodating and closed the bar prior to its stated closing time. We won't stay there again despite frequenting Asheville (in the last 5 months, we have rented luxury hotel rooms 24 nights in downtown Asheville).
the mattress and pillows were too soft, and left us wanting for a better night sleep.
It's clean, well appointed, nicely decorated, and all amenities and facilities were of superior quality and construction. The free breakfast was surprisingly very good, and the staff was warm and friendly. I will stay here again, especially given the price. One drawback is the location...a few blocks away from the action and attractions of downtown. Shouldn't be a problem for anyone but the very infirm or physically challenged, but it is a consideration. A nearby homeless shelter was also a strange neighbor...but...its Asheville. The city population seems to be mostly homeless people so...
Great breakfast. Great beds. No rooftop bar.
spacious room, nice rooftop bar with view of the mountains. charged for parking, had to move rooms because the remote control blinds wouldn't work.
